Kigali Founders Happy Hour: Second Edition
The founder's happy hour has quickly become one of the most anticipated monthly events for founders in Kigali.
Every ecosystem has that one key event that seems to bring everyone together. For founders in Kigali, that event is the Kigali Founders Happy Hour. The second edition of the founder's happy hour was hosted at OGC as usual by none other than the founders themselves. The founder's happy hour is an opportunity for founders to network and connects while enjoying some drinks and snacks.
The ecosystem is growing and getting more active, we are getting requests from more and more volunteer founders and companies who share our vision and see the need to connect founders as well as provide an opportunity for them to let loose and have some fun. “We want to create a space where founders can come to relax, network, and just have a good time. We feel that this is important for the founder's community because it helps founders to recharge and come back with new energy to keep building their startups”, says one of the potential partners.
What was new in the second edition
The second edition of the founder's happy hour was a big success with over 200 founders and tech enthusiasts in attendance including teams from Irembo, Catapult VC, Bank of Kigali, JASIRI, Andela, etc. This was a big increase from the first edition which had about 150 founders in attendance. The founder's happy hour has quickly become one of the most anticipated monthly events for founders in Kigali. The event is run by the community itself. For founders, By founders.
A couple of commitments came through to make this edition bigger and better. With the support of founders through their startups, we launched our first raffle, where founders would get to win free perks from other startups.
BAG Innovation: An ed-tech startup that makes it easy for African students and graduates to gain real work experience and get employed with top companies in Africa.
BAG offered 1 free recruitment service to help founders hire their dream team.
Food Bundles: A mobile-based technology solution designed to digitize the fresh food supply chain, right from farms of smallholder farmers to consumers in cities.
Food Bundles offered 25% off the first 5 orders on the platform.
Afriframe: A creative company that provides its clients with world-class photography and videography services.
Afrifame offers free professional portraits to all the founders attending.
Winnaz: The biggest brand of crisps in Rwanda.
Winnaz offered a full box of crisps to a lucky winner.
PayingTone: A digital credit platform that allows consumers to purchase goods and services on credit to help them keep up with the basic standard of living.
PayingTone offered a $60 voucher for purchase on their platform.
The founder's happy hour is a great example of the founder's community coming together to support each other. The happy hour is just one of the many initiatives that we are looking at organizing for the ecosystem.

This is a very good thing you are doing for the startups and the country as a whole, you might not see the impact today or tomorrow but anytime soon i'm quite sure that it's going to bring a massive change.
Keep up the good work
But I was wondering if maybe there's a way founders who are not based in kigali can join because as you know for some of us we get to move to the places where we can easily access the raw materials and most of the times it's in the other part of the country
Is it possible ?
And if yes what are the requirements?
Thanks
